John is re-emerging from a lengthy battle with stage 4 cancer and HIV to spearhead the development of the 501(c)3 non-profit getavisionPROJECT / getavision.org and launch new video services through netv.com, primarily serving the travel and tourism industries and supporting local economic development initiatives. He is currently working on a Citizen Journalism-focused video competition for the annual A&E-sponsored Third Screen Film Festival.
Community-Building and Economic Development
With a focus on community-building and local economic development, John is currently on the Tourism Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and serving in a second stint on Board of Directors of the Travel and Tourism Marketing Association, and is spearheading the development of a Palm Springs / Desert Cities Chapter of the organization, focused on both traditional travel and eco-tourism throughout the entire Desert region. John is also on the Adivsory Board of the Westside Economic Collaborative, a collaborative effort of the cities and chambers of commerce and other organizations in the Los Angeles Westside area, from the Hills of Hollywood to the Santa Monica Beach.
