Gas prices just keep going up. We went to Los Alamos for an introduction to the NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle.) This fun little car just plugs into a regular outlet and is rated at 245 mpg. As Richard Dunn says, ? you can?t beat that.?
We hope this offers an alternative to the family second or third car for those short trips off necessity near home. For more information on plug-in alternatives you can start by visiting www.pluginamerica.com
Thanks for taking the time to watch and help us to consider a more sustainable future.

GL I love the whole thing but one question - How much fossil fuel is used generating the electricity at the main power plant?
Check out Sister Beatrice Explores. She's really efficient and has almost zero emissions.-

I would have liked to see more in the way of a detailed show-off of the car (seeing the gauges, describing the driving experience), in other weeks, more motorweek and less talk show. Otherwise, great podcast.
-
Nice informative pod! Important topic these days.

nice information! good cut and camera work... the thing that bothers me about the veggie cars is that there is major pollution from that, runoff from the fertilizer...
good message... electric is the way to go! -
Its very interesting and informative. We can't hear enough about alternative cars. I'm giving it a greenlight, though I did not like the last comment "We are facing environmental and economic collapse." When the speaker says that and looks at the camera, he is just too emotional and I think it really takes away from his credibility as an informative resource for these cars. I would like to hear more about how much these cars cost, how to get them serviced, and how to order them or become a dealer. Otherwise, it is wonderful.
-
Very informative! You might try doing something on a more relevant topic... like say firewalking...

Good idea. Maybe a follow comparing to other alternative cars would help..i.e. hybrids, full cells, compressed air. Where are they available? How about an actual test to show how reliable and there ease of use in everyday diving situations?

Another very good pod. I'm a fan...
Someone mentioned earlier about the fossil fuel being used to charge up the batteries. That isn't a problem with the car that is a problem with the present infrastructures that we use to power the planet.
Because people keep talking on the ground, I have hope that my daughter and my son wont have to deal with these conversations. Like the TV anchor smoking while reporting the news, these conversations will be laughed at in how ridiculous they are.
Keep up the great work.

Please take a moment to check out my latest POD, BIG MEDIA fails again and feel free to give it a GL if you like it.

Good piece. GL from me.

Great informative pod. Question to the audience is.
Where do TIRES for all the electric cars come from? What about the ROADS? Are you aware of what these are made from? No easy solution to the situation we are in.-

Nice work. A bit too long for my taste. And perhaps throw some other interviews in there. Nevertheless it was well produced.

it's a nice pod although I agree it runs on a bit long, but i have a question.
If every car was quiet.. wouldn't that lead to more traffic accidents especially for blind people...? -
in response to dharmadogpictures:
You are right that there is no easy solution to what we are in but we must start now and we must all participate. Sure, petrolium pruducts are all around us but this truth should not stop us from taking action at whatever level we are able right now.
response to simioni:
If every car was quiet I am not sure what would happen. I am sure we would come up with a solution to avoid accidents. Perhaps our senses would become more fine tuned. As things are now, I think the blind people would do better than the seeing people as they may already have much more tuned sense of hearing. -
Good to see the positive direction. If we can break the cycle of violence and think ahead. Greened it.

Great pod.
But it needs to be more balanced with B-roll footage.
Half way through it just becomes a "talking heads" piece. They are talking about some important stuff so....spice it up with some more images.
I'm looking forward to more of your pods! -
Thanx this is a sincere return green ligh for one given to me for my efforets on the very serious topic which is a beginning for our species to not become ex-stinked. Are we like duh? finally recognized as a-head of our time?

Thank you everyone who is supporting this video and has supported our first video about solar energy.
We have many more hours and stories logged into our camera just waiting to be edited. As it is with us.... the video making gets a back seat to the rest of our doings. We are just beginners at this so still trying to figure it all out. Luckily, our subjects are all long time professionals at what they do so we hope we can do them justice.
There is SO MUCH we want the general public to start thinking about in terms of a sustainable future. Most of this is not making it into mainstream media. We hope to see some other producers making stories like this.
After all, this is Al Gore's network. To Al > Hey Al Gore we love ya but that Sundance Channel is on the ball (kicking CurrentTVs A$$) with its coverage of a sustainable future...
Lets kick it up a few notches.
Thanks again and keep doing your part. -
I definitely learned something here. Very informative and well produced pod. GL from me, and congrats on your piece that was picked for TV.
Also, thanks for your support and comment on my pod BIG BUGS . I really appreciate it!-

Good idea, keep spreading the word. I'd like to know more about the cost of the replacement batteries and battery life before replacement is necessary.

Wild car! I like it! GL!

Small is beautiful, especially in cars. Short is sweet when it comes to your carbon footprint. This pod puts it together. Where can I hear more about the NEV?

I'm a huge fan of alternative transportation. Prius, Hybrids, Smart... this car looks to be the next level.
One note: Quiet cars are actually a little bit dangerous to cyclists. I've experience this with a slow moving Prius's using only it's electric engine. When cycling, you can't hear a car coming up from behind you. Which is kinda amazing. I suggest these cars install small quiet speakers on the front that pump out the sound of a (retro) combustion engine... just for cyclists. :)
The video is so valid. Great to see it on here.-

That is a great point and you are the 2nd person to mention it. I find that is true in my Electric Ford Ranger. I am very carefull when I see a biker or anyone on foot. A little tap on the horn usually does the trick just say I am there without freaking anyone out.
Maybe a fun and friendly pedesstrian horn..... like we now have all of those cell fun ring choices... I can see when you go buy a car like this you get your choices of "ringtones" -
I saw one of these in Indiana, very cool. GL.

Great story, and nice production quality I felt. It's a timely and catchy subject, which makes it perfect for TV...
Check out my latest pod Give Em Belle!. You saw my last pod and had good comments for me, so I thought you'd be interested. -

thanks again for the kind words. they are much appreciated. good luck with this video. your last one was well deserved of its green light. hope you have the same success with this one. GL and keep up all the good work. and thanks again. hopefully more on the way!

Two Dee! I love your personal bio/say, bro. I have family in Albq and Tucumcari, NM. I miss it out there... Where in NM are you from?
Solid work on both of your videos, man. I could learn a few things from you... Take a chance at my fam's New Hip Hop Art pod. It could use your personal videography review and approval for TV. Thanks! -
Great video - keep it up!
You could add a graphic when the speaker talks about electricity sources - coal fired electric plants ; solar; wind. -
mrtweaker, you have a good point with the additional graphics or shots.
mrfreeze, we are in Santa Fe.
Kiethpops... we look forward to more from you. -
for rural folks this car won't be of much use but for suburbinites and urban dwellers I could see it as a mainstay vehicle for those short every day trips while their regular car would be used in longer distance travel. That would help to cut down on C02 emissions.
What's the point of having a fast car anyway in a city with traffic and numerous stop lights? I've seen a few electric type cars in Tokyo.
My only complaint is the design. Can't they make an electric car that at least looks half-way cool?
Anyway, I GLed this earlier this month. Glad to see it's working it's way up. I linked it in my <a href=" http://samuraidave.wordpress.com/2007/06/14/rock-the-vo... to hopefully get it some votes and get into the top 10.
Check out my new pod on a Japanese Biwa Player if you have a chance.-
