The end of January each year brings double checks on progress with the New Year's resolutions, maybe thoughts of spring and of course, the arrival of those W2s in the mail from your employer.
Yep, it is the start of tax season. The official tax return filing due date for the IRS is April 15 but you can file anytime after you've received all your respective tax documents. We all want that refund money in our accounts as soon as possible so we have a few things we recommend you do, starting with Current's faster direct deposit:
- Have your refund check sent via direct deposit to your Current account: You know with Current, you can get your paycheck up to two days faster with direct deposit. HOWEVER, with a government-issued refund check, you can receive your refund up to FIVE days faster than sending it via direct deposit to a traditional bank account. To have your refund check sent to your Current account, simply fill in your routing and account numbers on your tax return documents.
- File early: There is no need to wait until April to file your returns. The earlier you file, the faster the government can process your return, especially before the biggest volume of returns hits (in 2019, 95 million Americans received tax refunds).
- File electronically: Dropping your returns in the mail the old-fashioned way is of course still an option to file your returns but they will take longer to arrive and longer for the government to process. Submitting them online or having your tax professional e-file them means less waiting and more cash in your account sooner.
Have any questions? Our member support team is here to help 24/7 and as always, we're working every day to get your hard-earned cash to you as fast as possible. Because as we like to say, there are plenty of things in life worth waiting for, but at Current, we just don't believe your money should be one of them.
